(27 January 2016 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in Mainland China, garnered the “Charity Festival – 5-year Special Tribute Award”, the “China Charity – Group Award” and the “Best Green Project” at the “2015 China Charity Festival” with its outstanding sustainability performance. Its large-scale sustainable development community project, “@Dream Sustainable Development Program” (“@Dream Program” or the “Program”), won the “Outstanding Organization” in the “China Homework” for NWDS.

NWDS has longstanding commitment for community services, and continually optimized the “@Dream Program” by introducing the “@Music – Rainbow Orchestra”, the “@Sports – Tennis Academy” and the “@Sports – Cool Soccer” music and sports training programs for Mainland under-resourced children in FY2015. Meanwhile, the Company has actively encouraged staff to participate in voluntary work together with their families and friends through the organization of 260 voluntary activities which accounted for nearly 6,700 service hours. Thus, the Company won the honor of “China Charity – Group Award” for the third consecutive year and garnered the “Charity Festival – 5-year Special Tribute Award” for the first time. In addition, two trainees from the “@Sports – Cool Soccer” training program under the Company’s “@Dream Program” won the Bronze Award in the “China Homework”, honoring the Company as the “Outstanding Organization”.

NWDS has committed to environmental protection and organizes four nationwide green activities every year, including “Earth Hour”, “Reaching Out to Nature”, “Go Green with NWDS” and “Green Mid-Autumn Festival – Moon Cake Box Recycling Campaign”, to promote environmental protection to the public. The fourth “Go Green with NWDS” held by the Company last June achieved great success with the participation of over 12,000 employees and customers and over 9,600 pots of small plants were given away, which is a substantial year-on-year increase of 85%, raising environmental awareness for the public and clinching the “Best Green Project” for the second consecutive year.

Founded in 2011, “China Charity Festival”, one of the most influential charity events in Mainland China, is jointly organized by several media agencies, including China News, China Finance Information, China Daily and PR Newswire, which aims at promoting the intact and true spirit of charity, advocating philanthropy as well as cultivating a healthy charitable culture by building a platform for multilateral cooperation. Its judging panel selects the outstanding charity projects based on five criteria - presentability, continuity, creativity, adaptability and integrity. While “China Homework” is a special summer homework competition organized by the Shanghai Education News Network and the official Weibo and Wechat account of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Ms. Violet Chan, Assistant General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Chairman of Sustainability Steering Committee of NWDS, said, “‘China Charity Festival’” is one of the most influential and authoritative charity awards in Mainland China, and it is NWDS’ great honor to receive multiple awards for successive years. We believe that corporate sustainability development requires long-term persistence and endurance. Therefore, we will continue to increase the intensity and depth of various sustainability projects, and introduce new elements to boost customer participation, enhancing overall activity efficacy by joint force.”
