(28 July 2015 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in Mainland China, hosted the kick-off ceremony of the “NWDS @Dream Annual Games” (“Games” or the “activity”) at Shanghai Changning District Tianshan No.2 Primary School yesterday. The “@Dream Cup・Soccer Tournament” and the “@Dream Sunshine Teen” Voting Campaign subsequently began to kick start a series of sporting activities and competitions that will take place from July to September.

The Games, an annual heavy-weighted event of the “@Dream Sustainable Development Program” (“@Dream Program” or the “Program”), is co-organized by NWDS, Shanghai Changning District Sports Association, Shanghai Changning Education Bureau, Shanghai Fengxian Education Bureau and Shanghai Education News Network. The Games consists of five components, namely the “@Dream Cup・Soccer Tournament”, the “@Dream Cup・Tennis Tournament”, the “@Dream Sunshine Teen” Voting Campaign, the “Demonstration Show cum Award Ceremony of @Dream Annual Games’ Finalists” and the “@Dream Sunshine Teen Charity Actions”. Senior executives of the co-organizers and soccer star Zheng Kewei were invited to attend yesterday’s ceremony to cheer for the contestants and did the ball-kicking actions together to mark the beginning of the three-month “NWDS @Dream Annual Games”. Right after the ceremony, the first match of the “@Dream Cup・Soccer Tournament” took place and the “@Dream Sunshine Teen” Voting Campaign began.

The “@Dream Cup・Soccer Tournament” aims at boosting the skills and well-beings of the students from “@Sports – Cool Soccer” training program through competitions. The tournament, following single round-robin system, has attracted six teams into the competition, namely Shanghai Zhabei District Team, Jingan District Team, Minhang District Team, Jiading District Team, Baoshan District Team and Changning District Team. To further promote the importance of children’s whole-person development, the Company will host the “@Dream Sunshine Teen” Voting Campaign from 27 July to 15 September to invite the public to cast their votes among 13 academic-sport elites from Shanghai schools. The four top runners will be shortlisted to compete for the honor of “@Dream Sunshine Teen”. By simply voting on website (http://amxygsn.shedunews.com/) with their cellphone numbers, the public gains an opportunity to win the big prizes, including an autographed soccer ball from Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC players, Apple Watch and NWDS N-Card.

“@Dream Program” is NWDS’ nationwide sustainable development community project launched in July 2013 to provide a diverse learning platform for under-resourced children in Mainland China. Over 6,000 children were benefited. The Program puts greater focus on sports and music this year in an attempt to improve migrant children’s musical and sports standards.

Ms. Rebecca Woo, Corporate Affairs Director and Chairman of Sustainability Steering Committee of NWDS, said, “NWDS has always attached great attention to the holistic development of under-resourced children and therefore, our ‘@Dream Program’ has already provided nearly a thousand of students with music and sports training classes. Through competition during the Games, we hope to sharpen their skills and further motivate them to learn. Furthermore, we believe that ‘@Dream Sunshine Teen’ Voting Campaign helps set a role model for the students to encourage them to further excel in both academics and sports areas.”
