(11 June 2014 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC, is pleased to announce that the Company garnered the “Golden Bee – Customer Focus Award” in the “2013 Golden Bee CSR China Honor Roll” Award Ceremony among over 410 entries as the only department store winner. At the same time, the Company’s sustainability project, “Dream Sustainable Development Program” (“@Dream Program” or the “program”), successfully entered the “2013 Golden Bee CSR Competitiveness Case Collection”, further recognizing the Company’s efforts on practicing sustainable community and fostering closer relationship between the community and customers.

Founded by China WTO Tribune in 2007, the only and the most authoritative WTO journal in China, “Golden Bee CSR China Honor Roll” has been organized for nine years and has become the most professional and international CSR gala event in China. The award aims to identify and endorse the “Bee Corporations” which are both socially responsible and persistent in pursuing sustainable development to foster the development of corporate social responsibility in China. After 5-month comprehensive assessment featuring questionnaire, competitiveness evaluation, panel review, field visit and research analysis, NWDS stands out from more than 410 enterprises and garners the award with its continuous CSR efforts.

NWDS has always been devoted to corporate sustainability. Its work focuses on four major aspects, namely community services, environmental protection, staff benefits and development and operating practices, and the Company has organized various activities such as moon cake boxes recycling, green lifestyle promotion and staff caring activities. In the aspect of community services, the Company launched “@Dream Program”, a nationwide sustainable community project, in July 2013 to offer a diversified training platform with four major themes on music, learning, sports and soul to the under-resourced children in Mainland China. The program helps foster children’s whole-person development in a sustainable and focused approach through offering music and tennis lessons to unleash children’s talent and collecting spare cell phones for the Qinghai left-behind children etc. with the aim of facilitating social mobility and building a sustainable community in a long run. As of today, over 6,000 children were benefited. The program has truly embodied the spirit of the “Golden Bee CSR China Honor Roll”, a good balance between corporate and social development, therefore, is awarded the honor of “Golden Bee – Customer Focus Award”.

Ms. Rebecca Woo, Corporate Affairs Director and Chairman of Sustainability Steering Committee of NWDS, said, “As a socially responsible enterprise, besides delivering premium products and services, and delightful shopping experience to customers, NWDS recognizes corporate sustainability as an integral part of the operations. On top of organizing green and community activities to help the under-resourced groups as well as raising the living standard of the community, the Company also leverages our nationwide store network and online resources to encourage customers to take part into building a sustainable society together. We are very pleased to receive recognition from the judges, which is a big encouragement to continue our corporate sustainability business. In the future, we will continue to develop more mid-and-long term sustainable community programs to make contribution to the economy and the living standard of the cities with our present.”
