(11 March 2014 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC, is pleased to announce NWDS garnered the “2013 China Charity - Group Award” and its nationwide sustainable community project,“@Dream Sustainable Development Program”, won the honorary title of “2013 Best Charity Project” in 2013 China Charity Festival, as the only awarded department store chain. In addition, the Company received the “Caring Company” logo by The Hong Kong Council of Social Service for 2013/14. Being granted numerous corporate social responsibility awards, NWDS’ work on sustainable development has been highly recognized and has become an industry role model.

Jointly organized by twenty media in China, including Sichuan TV, China Times, finance.china.com.cn, www.huanqiu.com, etc, 2013 China Charity Festival aims at promoting the concept of community services and encouraging corporations to shoulder social responsibility. The judging committee of the event assessed corporations’ charity projects based on five criteria - presentability, continuity, creativity, applicability and integrity. On the other hand, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service has launched Caring Company Scheme to facilitate partnership between business and social welfare sectors to cultivate corporate social responsibility. All awarded companies have outstanding performance in caring the community, employees as well as environment in order to receive nominations from non-profit organizations.

NWDS has been dedicated to community services. Our stores and offices often organize activities like education support, visits, fundraising, etc. and the Company established NWDS Volunteer Team in April 2013 to unify staff members’ power to give back to society. In July 2013, the award-winning “@Dream Sustainable Development Program” was launched to foster the whole-person development of under-resourced children to increase their chances of upward mobility. Under the four themes of music, learning, sports and soul, the Company helps those children to pursue their dreams and develop a positive attitude toward life, arousing public awareness on them. NWDS won the “2013 China Charity - Group Award” in 2013 China Charity Festival for its achievement on the program and other charity work.

In addition to community services, the Company has endeavoured to promote environmental protection, and has been organizing campaigns like moon cake boxes recycling and making our stores go green, so as to spread eco-friendly message to customers. The Company has attached great importance to employees’ physical and mental development, and launched a series of staff caring activities under the umbrella of “Caring Our Staff” campaign. Training programs tailored for staff at different levels have also been held to enhance their work morale and loyalty to the Company.
