NWDS Nationwide VIP Day Generates a Total Sales of about RMB 400 Million Strong SSSG of over 200% and Foot Traffic Increases 56.5%

(28 November 2012 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC, is pleased to announce that the Nationwide VIP Day, which was specially launched for celebrating towards the Company’s 20th Anniversary and rewarding its VIP members, has achieved remarkable success, successfully drawing foot traffic of more than 1.5 million and recording a total sales of about RMB400 million during the four days event.   

The Nationwide VIP Day was held simultaneously in 39 NWDS stores from 22 November to 25 November 2012. In addition to a number of exclusive discounts upon spending of a specific amount, all stores have launched different gimmick activities, offering fabulous prizes such as automobile and high-end home appliances to reward VIP members in their respective regions. Moreover, the Company collaborated with Bank of Communications to provide additional privileges with a total value of more than RMB400,000, which included special gifts and NWDS cash voucher upon credit card spending of a specific amount. The kickoff event “VIP Banquet” on 22 November evening led to a victorious start, creating a shopping craze after work and reached its peak over the weekends. Many of the stores broke their highest single-day sales record in the year.

Beijing Store’s highlight event, “60 Hours Non-stop Mega Sales”, has achieved record-breaking sales of RMB 180 million and drawn foot traffic of over 600,000 in just 60 hours with many of the selected merchandises sold out quickly. Nearly one third of the stores have generated over 100% SSSG during the four days event period. Meanwhile, Beijing Qianzi Store rewarding customers with iPad2 upon spending of a specific amount received enthusiastic response, leading to SSSG of nearly 300% and an over 100% increase in foot traffic. Ten stores in Shanghai jointly gave away automobile and high-end home appliances while Shanghai Chengshan Branch Store doubled its sales and foot traffic. By providing special discounts in specific timeslots, Kunming Store achieved SSSG of more than 300%.
