(10 September 2012 – Hong Kong) New World Department Store China Limited (“NWDS” or the “Company”; Hong Kong stock code: 825), one of the largest owners and operators of department stores in the PRC, holds a nationwide “Beauty of Water” Photography Contest from 7 September to 23 September, so as to tie in with its parent company, New World Group ("the Group")’s commitment on sustainability and advocate for water resources preservation.

To strive toward a sustainable future with the society, NWDS enthusiastically responds to the sustainable development strategy of the Group and has established NWDS Sustainability Steering Committee earlier this year for this purpose. In line with the Group’s yearly sustainability theme, “water conservation”, the Company launches this nationwide “Beauty of Water” Photography Contest. Participants can capture anything related to water to highlight the significance and magnificent of water resources in different environment, promoting the appreciation of “Beauty of Water” through camera. Application forms will be available in NWDS stores, NWDS website(www.nwds.com.hk), NWDS Blog(blog.www.nwds.com.hk) and NWDS Mini Blog(e.weibo.com/xinshijiebaihuo) from 7 September to 23 September 2012. Winners of the contest will be awarded NWDS cash coupons, an additional cash coupon will also be presented to NWDS Gold and Platinum VIP winners.

To encourage community participation, a public voting session will be introduced to the contest. Customers can cast their votes for 6 outstanding entries (i.e. Gold, Silver, Bronze and three Excellence awards) among the 24 finalists selected from all NWDS stores in the PRC by visiting the stores in person or logging in the NWDS e-Shopping Platform (http://www.enwds.com/) from 6 October to 15 October 2012. During the voting period, 5 special prizes will be drawn by each store every day and NWDS e-Shopping Platform will offer a RMB 500 voucher on daily basis to reward online and offline voters who show support to the activity.

Mr. Philip Cheung, Managing Director and Executive Director of NWDS opined that the contest carries a very special meaning and said: “The Company has been placing great emphasis on the ethos of “give-and-take”. Last year, other than launching three nationwide environmental activities with the theme of Green Wear Day, Mid-Autumn moon cake box recycling and waste paper recycling, we initiated numerous green activities at store level from time to time. By advocating the appreciation of water resources through lens in this photography contest, we hope to raise public awareness on water conservation and to reduce and prevent water pollution, making contributions on preserving water resources on earth.”
