New World Department Store ("NWDS") was accredited as "Asia's 200 Best Under A Billion" by Forbes Magazine for the 2nd consecutive years. The 2009 Forbes' "Asia's 200 Best Under A Billion" were culled from 25,326 publicly listed companies with under USD $1 billion in sales in Asia Pacific region, considering their profitability, growth, modest indebtedness and future prospects. Citing by Forbes Magazine, the unprecedented dislocations in the global economy disrupted supply chains, froze lines of credit and depleted consumer coffers, with a result of only a third of last year's companies return to the list this year in which they are a testament to fearless management and continue to exercise the exceptional operational capability.

The Forbes "Asia's 200 Best Under A Billion" Award Presentation Ceremony was held at Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore where numerous representatives of renowned companies and awardees in the region attended the festive ceremony. During the award presentation ceremony, Mr. Christopher Forbes, Vice Chairman of Forbes and Mr. Steven Leonard, President of Asia Pacific and Japan of EMC presented the award to Ms Rebecca Woo, Corporate Affairs Director of NWDS.

The Forbes Asia annual 'Best Under A Billion' list focuses on Asia-Pacific's top small and midsize listed companies with sales under US$1 billion. It recognizes leading companies with consistent profitability and growth over three years. The 2008 winners were culled from 25,864 publicly listed companies from areas including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The list served as a guide to investors in picking companies with sound financial foundation and outstanding sales performance. According to Forbes Magazine, members of the 2008 list could withstand the pitfalls of early 2008 to increase their sales and profits despite the slumping worldwide economy. These companies have proven themselves capable of navigating the stormy economies with solid business foundation and healthy financial status.

"China Corporate Credibility Accreditation" Programme 2008/09
NWDS has become a nominee of "China Corporate Credibility Accreditation" Programme (CCCA) which nominated by China Enterprise Reputation & Credibility Association (Overseas) Ltd. (CERCAO).  The accreditation reassures quality corporations' achievements in marketing and assuring the quality of its products and services, upholding of consumers' rights, committing to corporate governance, building sound financial strength and formulating the policies of investor relations, human resources as well as corporate image. 

Consumers' voting campaign CCCA held by CERCAO and Reputation Institute (China) will be launched in December 2008.  CCCA is an accreditation program for commercial entities by collecting the perception of consumers and the evaluation of scholars & experts.  Aiming at promoting the interaction of China's corporations and market, the annually reviewed CCCA awards the corporations which have excellent reliability.  The issuance of this accreditation is an official recognition for reputable corporations well accepted by the consumers as well as the experts..

Wuhan Wuchang Branch Store was accredited as "2008 Advanced Tax-paying Unit in Hongshan District"
Wuhan Wuchang Branch Store was accredited as "2008 Advanced Tax-paying Unit in Hongshan District" by People's Government of Wuhan Hongshan District in February 2009. This accreditation honors the store for its credibility in operation and paying tax in compliance with law, which contributes to the revenue growth and economic and social development in Hongshan District.

Harbin Store was accredited as "Benchmark Department Store" and "Jinding Department Store"
Harbin New World Department Store was accredited as "Benchmark Department Store" and "Jinding Department Store" by the National Bureau of Commerce in January 2009. The accredited stores were recommended by local commerce department and was chosen among 215 department stores in 27 cities after passing the audit under the "Benchmark Department Store Standard" and "Jinding Department Store Standard" by organization and authority employed by the National Bureau of Commerce.

Shanghai-Hong Kong New World Department Store - Pujian Branch Store proactively supported the Street Trade Union and Local General Chamber of Tongqiao. In January 2009, it was awarded "2008 Advanced Group Participation in Chamber Work Award" by General Chamber of Tongqiao Community.

Security and Maintenance Division of Administration Department in Beijing Trendy Store was awarded "Personal Contribution Award to Beijing Olympics"
During the 2008 Olympics, Beijing Trendy Store, as the key retail enterprise in Chaoyang District, successfully maintained security and safety inside the store and around its peripheral areas. The Beijing Olympics Committee honored each of the 63 Security and Maintenance Division members of Beijing Trendy Store, who have participated in security protection during the Olympics, with the "Beijing Olympics and Paralympics Personal Contribution Award".

On Oct 15, 2008, Beijing New World Trendy Department Store was awarded with "Outstanding Organizational Performance for Olympic 2008 in Jianwai District" by Jianwai Street Working Committee in Beijing Chaoyang District and People's Government of Jianwai Street in Beijing Chaoyang District.

In September 2007, the Main Service Counter and VIP Centre of Beijing New World Shopping Mall received commendations as role models of "Beijing Olympics Service with a Smile" from the coordinating committee for Olympics training for frontline businesses in Beijing. A store cashier won designation as an ambassador of "2008 Beijing Olympics Service with a Smile". In December 2007, the store was honoured as an "Advanced Unit of Patriotic Hygiene in Beijing".

"No Fakes Pledge" Enterprise
In February 2007, Jiangsu Intellectual Property Bureau officially authorized Wuxi Store as the first qualified retailer in Jiangsu Province to use the "No fakes pledge".
